An Early Marriage Lesson

Ephesians 5 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. Ephesians 5 is famous for leading husbands in the way we should love our wives. I am so grateful for this passage, mostly because if I didn't have it I would be really confused, and I wouldn't be able to love my wife as well as I should without it. It's just good instruction from the Lord on marriage; even greater, it shows how Christ loves us; therefore, marriage is the best picture of the gospel we could have. That when I love my wife as Christ does the church, I see how Christ loves me, his bride-the church, which produces more worship in me towards Christ. First I'm thankful that the Son of God was obedient to the po

When you find yourself in a situation that is overwhelming, and you think you are not going to "make it", whatever that may look like for you. Those types of days where all the strength in you is completely zapped out of you, and you feel like it's all you can do just to keep going. Those days of failure, when doubt overruns your mind, when your worry begins to choke out the word of God...those types of days...when the option of quitting seems to make more sense than continuing on. Psalm 42 1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” 4 These things I remember and I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go along with the throng and lead them in procession to the house of God, With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festiva

From Sinner to Child

Fresh into the blog scene. I have now done what I said I would "never" do, very comical. How often do we say that? Only to find ourselves doing the things on our "never" list. Oh the irony... Why do we do that? Why is it that we do the things we say we hate, or become the things we say we will never become? Paul related to this in an almost intimate manner: Romans 7:15 "For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate" I do not understand why I am on this blog. Just kidding, I know why I'm on here... Seriously, I do not understand why I say stupid things to awesome people, or treat people as they are inferior to me, or even turn away from a God I know is more satisfying than life itself (Ps 63:3). Why do we do this? Why do we "get pissed" at people we love? Why do we make unwise, foolish choices that wreak our life and the lives around us? Personally, I find this f
